Not on facebook, time to join and get involved…
Project Overview:
Outcomes:
On Friday April 30th in collaboration with FAC 251 (Factory Records communications HQ, Manchester) , the Fans of Factory Records and the Fans of Manchester, will together create a unique once in a life time happening at the venue.
Documentary films, made by FANS will be shown, on the themes of Factory, Praxis and Manchester
Buskers will Busk to record companies and to you…
Print/photography/paint/drawing/streetart will be shown on massive projectors, you can buy what you see…
A sound scape created by FANS of factory featuring archive interviews and music, remixed, mashed up and recycled… will pass through your ears,
Artists will meet, happenings will happen and networks will become meshwork’s….
How to achieve these outcomes:
Working with existing networks, 24/7 theatre festival, NW vision and media, Raindance, Shooting People, Mobifilm, Map Festival, Filmonik, Salford Film Festival, Not Part Of, Fac 251, Actingclass.co.uk, Kinofilm, Facebook, Youtube, Myspace, Blogger, Linkdin, Twitter, Current TV, Salford University, Manchester University (more to be announced)
We will put a call out asking artists to join us for this exploration for what is possible, in a short space of time, in fact the production side of this project has to take place during the Filmonik Kaberet in April (5 days), but all pre-production will be done before hand, artists and creatives will be encouraged to work online via a communications hub that will be set up on media-city.tv (coming soon) of course all social networks will be a place to meet and discuss ideas,
Facebook, Myspace, Youtube, Twitter, Blogger, Bebo,
The use of SKYPE, Instant messaging, video conference and e-mail will also be used as a tool to communicate, we will also rely on blind faith and maybe even a public meet up!
The program of content for the event will evolve, the more people that get involved the more content that will be created, and the idea of this project is that the whole building (fac251) will become a ‘media circus’ of creativity, directed/curated by Mark Ashmore from future artists,
1)Documentaries will be created using found footage online, the tools to retrieve this footage and get it into the edit will be shared by the group,
2)Soundscapes will be created using samples found online, music and interviews and existing factory recordings, or Original compositions by Manchester bands, or silence?
3)Musicians will be invited to busk, time slots will be given, FAC 251 will become the London underground for the night!
4)The spoken word… actors will recite found memories of Factory past, from postings on social networks, to magazine articles, books, or they might make it up!!!!
A DJ will play, so we can string this all together, ANDY WOODs Manchester Legend and Record company owner…
Plus what ever else the group comes up with….
HOW
Over the next 2 weeks a call for artists across all disciplines will be called for, and its up for everyone involved to tell 10 people they know who will be interested in participating from anywhere in the world, all they need is an internet connection. while this is happening I (Mark Ashmore) will set up various groups and social networks and then create a MAP so you know we it all is!!,
our first port of call will be our facebook group until MARCH 21st
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=371357134017&ref=ts
here we can see who is onboard, and who wants to do what, groups like this will be set up on myspace, twitter (lists), Linkdin, youtube (playlists) to start with, but users can set up new groups, as long as they tell the hub (facebook group) where it is,
The aim of the project is to see how much user generated content can be created across the world, in a short space of time that echo the ethos of Factory, Manchester and Praxis, how this is done, and its outcomes will be seen on the night.
This user generated collaboration if successful will be seen as a watershed moment in the creative industries, and we at future artists will learn how to approach such an edevour,
The project will be managed by a series of producers,
The Overall project will be managed by Future Artists,
But we head of departments to cover the following, and we NEED them NOW!!!!
Documentary – oversee documentary subjects
Soundscape – oversee creation of music within the venue
Busking space – manage artists and give timeslots (NW UK BASED)
Spoken Word – manage artists and give timeslots (NW UK BASED)
Art for projection – collect images and manage their compilation for projection,
Poster art – work with creatives to make a range of unique art for the event.
So go to our facebook group and write on the ‘Discussion tab’ who you are and why you should manage a department.
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=371357134017&ref=ts
don’t e-mail me!!!! I will read everything in the group!!!
Within each area we will need a number of PRODUCERS to create content, these can be solo projects or team work, the details of this will be announced once the HOD have been found, as they will be able to influence the call for content.
Costs
All costs will be the artists own, this project is done under a creative commons agreement, as laid out on the facebook group, our outcomes are clear, and it’s a collaborative project, money generated via ticket sales will go into the night,
Fac 251 run a cool ticket system which means that you can become an online ticket agent for the event, which means we have the better chance to sell out (wouldn’t that be cool!!) so every ticket agent will get £1 for every ticket they sell, so a few friend invites on facebook and your quids in, more on this to be announced, so even if you don’t want to create anything for the night, you can still promote it. In which ever country you are in!!!!
This event is not being funded by anyone at present, its an experiment by Future Artists to see what is possible by the creative community online.
Everything that is being created will go into an archive on myebook.com and also on a limited edition DVD (200 will be made, each unique),
A Film within a Film – lets make a film in one night
On the night Film-makers and artists will be encouraged to document the night in their own unique way, and then after the event post it back on the facebook wall where it all began…. This will be the end of the project, so in 20 years time, the archive of the night can be cut up, mashed up and remixed so future generations can create their own project ‘Praxis’.
