save6music the right to protest

I am a big fan of 6music on the BBC its great value, great music and great conversation, i joined the save6music campaign on FACEBOOK, some 72,000 members, and there was growing chatter on all the social networks to stage a protest in London, a few people suggested doing one in MANCHESTER at BBC Oxford rd where most of the shows are broadcast one, Craig Charles 'Funk n Soul' being one of them....

this suggestion was put by me to the group leader.... this is the reply.... SCARY!!!

L?????????? March 20 at 9:20pm Report Hi Mark, I had a message about this from a couple of students from Manchester University. I would advise getting in touch with them to see whats happening. I don't however think they're taking it any further - we offered advice but heard no more. Please bear in mind that you need to give the police 10 days' notice before staging a protest. If the Manchester students already have approval that's of course fine, but it's not just a case of turning up on the day - you will be moved on at the very least. We now have the BBC's approval too as this is a fully legal protest. Without support from both these bodies you risk creating a great deal of bad press for the cause. In all honesty, unless the student team have already started working on this, I would strongly advise against trying to arrange this at such a late date. We have been working on this for the past few weeks and it is a LOT of work. But do get in touch with Alex - if they are working on something already then we are happy to let people know. Filmonik Awareness Night, MadLab, 44 Edge Street, Monday March 22nd, 6.30 - 8.30 (or whatever time we decide???) FILMONIK KABARET 2010 IS COMING IN APRIL! Over a week of flat out, peddle-to-the-metal 24/7 filmmaking, where fortune favours the brave, the quick-witted and the fast-working, where only the strong survive and the crazy obsessives flourish. If you’ve always dreamed of making “that little movie”, if only you had the time / talent / equipment, now is your chance to watch that dream crash and burn, and see something else come stumbling from the ashes. But BEFORE then, we’re having a special “Filmonik Awareness Night” at MadLab. This is your chance to find out for yourselves who we are and what we are about; to see work from previous screenings, and in particular work produced during previous Kabarets. It is a chance to register an interest and get involved; to show your support for the region’s independent film scene. The event is free, but we will be taking donations for the beer and any nibbles provided. Any money taken will go towards funding the Kabaret. Remember, this is all about pooling resources: Filmonik does well with nothing, but it will do better with something!
